I am passionate about therapy because therapy saved me, changed me, challenged me, grew me and helped me become who I am today. In college I worked towards a law degree, then vet medicine, but something continued to draw me back to psychology and helping people. In my opinion and personal experience, therapy works. I have seen couples, families and individuals come through some amazing journeys. My approach is very interactive while providing a non-judgmental place for free expression of thoughts and feelings.
I am currently owner and director for Sierra Therapy Center in beautiful Nevada County. I also serve on CAMFT Legislative Committee and I LOVE to supervise new associates and graduate students! Prior to this, I was the Clinical Director for a residential children's program. I left this position knowing that my true purpose was to work every day with my clients. We are a growing therapy center aimed at improving personal lives and family dynamics.
I was born and raised in Grass Valley (graduate of our local Nevada Union), I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology at California State University of Sacramento and earned my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from Chapman University. When I'm not working with my clients, I enjoy spending time with my family of 5 - cooking, gardening, ballet, meditation, and best of all - being a wife and mom.
"We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know." - Carl Rogers

I consider therapy to be a place to find and explore your truth. Therapy is a place to grow your inner strength, build new skills, learn to set boundaries, and to find and assert your voice to move through the challenge’s life has presented. This is a journey we take together. I will provide guidance through a client-centered and strength-based approach to meet you where you are on your path. I will utilize a cognitive behavior approach and evidence-based practices to increase insight and build mastery to empower you to independently implement your skills and develop natural support systems
I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, completing my degree at Brandman University in 2015. For the past 9 years I've provided support to youth and their families who are in residential care with an intensive therapeutic environment. This has provided an opportunity to support their personal growth to manage symptoms related to trauma, struggle with Anger Management, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, ADHD, DMDD, ODD, and Parent-Child Relationship Problems. I enjoy working with married or divorced parents to assist then in learning to communicate with each other in order to parent a child with healthy boundaries and consistency. I understand how to assist in functioning within the home, school, and community environment. I have familiarity and insight into working with systems of care related to CPS, Probation, IEP's, and Managed Care.

I believe in healthy relationships, living in the moment, and practicing gratitude. I am passionate about helping people. The vast amount of my experience (since 1997) has been working with children and families related to foster care and the effects of trauma on individuals. I do notagree with the stigma that has been attached to mental health issues and fear that it prevents people from seeking help. I have sought therapy throughout my adult life whenever I experienced challenges where I needed the extra support therapy provides. I aim to support others on their journeys as we navigate life together. My family moved to the Grass Valley area when I was 10. As a teenager, I thought I’d definitely live elsewhere when I grew up. Turns out, my parents were right – this is a great place to live life. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, reading, and going for walks. I am excited to be part of the team at Sierra Therapy Center, and I look forward to meeting you!

I offer a light in discovering your authentic self. The innate expert in your own life who may be in the darkness now, but has the courage to find the gem within. I too have walked some difficult paths. These hard knocks have only made me gentler, kinder, wiser.
Exploring the foundations of holistic health and the artistic realms of the imagination provides vast potential for humankind. In my work of assisting the rehabilitation of Birds of Prey, I also learned that to truly live takes more than the mechanics of a recovered body, but also requires that one wants to thrive. A spirit empowered to fully live.
My connection to nature has taught me to find intention, meaning and purpose. Working as a teacher with children, and being a parent, has given me the depth of understanding true presence. A gift of seeing every child for the miracle they are, and the child we as adults are in our hearts.
The ability to listen to you, your dreams, and the truth that needs to be expressed are sacred experiences. This emerges through our dialogue, perspective shifts, creative activities of art and play, and mindfulness techniques. Radical transformation is possible in the moments of introspection, the profound knowledge of suffering, the curiosity of knowing oneself and ultimately loving acceptance.
One of the biggest factors in the success of therapy is a strong rapport, resonance, and alliance between therapist and client. Often times the best way out of our challenges is directly through them, and you don't need to do this alone. Together we can find that place of happiness, peace and inspiration.

Welcome.
Seeking help for better relationships and improved mental health is an important step to feeling well and connected. Compassionate listening and empathizing are essential tools to both learn and receive. I have found that many people are missing experiences of being received and loved exactly from where they are and many people have had to deny certain parts of themselves out of fear or a lack of safety. As an Associate, my emphasis is to work with young to old adults, couples, teens and adolescents who are struggling to face the challenges that they are met with. Whether the issue that brings you to therapy is relational, or whether it is related to past traumatic experiences that leave you feeling depressed, anxious, stressed, stuck, and/or on edge, I believe in the power and essential need for professional, skilled and supportive others to get back on track.I am most drawn to mind-body approaches, rooted in the science of attachment theory, family systems and neurobiology. I am especially well-suited for individuals and couples who are struggling with sexuality and intimacy, who want to strengthen bonds to becoming more attached within themselves and in their most intimate relationships. I have advanced trainings in somatic and experiential therapies, including the Hakomi Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am also skilled and have experience working with complex trauma.
In my free time, you will find me in nature, at the gym, and sharing quality time with loved ones.

I have always believed in the value of therapy because it has helped me in some of my most vulnerable moments. My goal is to help others process through this journey of life in a supportive and healthy way. My social work journey began when I graduated from San Jose State University in 1997. My career has provided a variety of experiences including many years working with children and families who were facing generational substance abuse, poverty and domestic violence. Most recently, I have worked several years in the end of life and medical social work field. I have great respect for Grief. It can impact our lives in ways we never thought possible- emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.
I make every effort to live my life and do my life’s work while remembering to be kind and non-judgmental because I have no idea what battles others might be fighting. I hope by understanding the battles others are facing, I can help them understand their value and together we can manage situations that seem unmanageable. I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story.

Inspired by Viktor Frankl’s profound insight, I believe that “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”. I am committed to guiding individuals through their unique journeys of self-discovery and transformation. Each person carries a distinct narrative shaped by their experiences and challenges, and it is within these stories that we find the potential for growth and resilience.
My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that true healing occurs when we explore the deeper aspects of ourselves. I aim to create a supportive and empathetic environment where clients feel safe to confront their struggles and uncover their inner strength. By fostering awareness and acceptance, we can reshape limiting beliefs and behaviors that hinder personal growth.
Utilizing an integrated and holistic approach, I draw from various therapeutic modalities tailored to the needs of each individual. This includes evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, and trauma-informed strategies. I specialize in areas such as crisis management, substance abuse, and trauma recovery, employing methods like EMDR and guided imagery to facilitate healing.
It is my privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate their challenges and embrace the opportunity for transformation. Together, we can cultivate a life filled with meaning, purpose, and lasting fulfillment, empowering each individual to rise above their circumstances and take charge of his or her personal journey.

Therapy is a place where you can show up as you are, where you won’t be judged or shamed. It’s a place where you can work on yourself, focus on you and be met with positive regard. Many people seek therapy for mental health purposes, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, or due to trauma. While some others seek therapy for emotional health reasons, or if one just needs someone who is objective/neutral to be there while they are going through a tough time in their life. Whatever the reason is for why you are interested in or seeking therapy, just know that we strive to create a welcoming, safe space for everyone. It is difficult to make sense of thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors and even more so when you go about it alone. You don’t have to be alone in this. But it does have to start with you. The rest we can conquer together.
“Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.”― Shannon L. Alder

Robey Patrick, AMFT
-
Welcome! My name is Robey (Row-Bee) and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) working in the city and county of Sacramento, CA. I work with people from all walks of life and I believe in a humanist approach to therapy, meaning the therapeutic relationship that is collaboratively forged between a helper and the one(s) being helped is the foundation for healing. From this base, I work with a client to identify the interventions that the client would like to try for their personal journey of reducing suffering and increasing fulfillment and enjoyment in their own life. My approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and eclectic. I am personally drawn to Existentialist and Feminist frameworks, and I often use interventions from Dialectical- and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, Polyvagal and Somatic approaches, and a wide range of theories and modalities, such as Internal Family Systems, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, and Motivational Interviewing. I am currently being trained in Brainspotting.
I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, a feminist, an anti-racist, and an advocate for working-class and other under-served communities. I am particularly interested serving the needs of clients who struggle with topics of identity, complex-family structures (ranging from foster care and adoption to building a chosen family), and those working through various types of trauma (such as those from isolated events, systemic/structural/societal patterns, and/or complex/childhood experiences and environments).
¡Bienvenidos!

My approach is grounded in depth psychology, somatic trauma healing, and critical studies, with an emphasis on nervous system attunement, intentionality, and embodied awareness. I support individuals in learning to listen to the deeper layers of themselves that lie beneath their stories, and to enter into authentic relationship through curiosity, compassion, attunement, and a reverence for the unknown.
With experience in psychedelic integration and ketamine-assisted therapy, I value the healing potential of non-ordinary states of consciousness and nature-based practices. I’m especially drawn to work that honors the psyche’s symbolic language and the body’s innate wisdom. I work collaboratively, with attention to the impact of trauma, identity, and life experiences, to create a safe and supportive space where lasting change and healing can take root.
I am EMDR and Brainspotting trained. In my free time, I can be found dancing to phenomenal music at shows or concerts, exploring nature, or in my kitchen working on projects to share and enjoy with my loved ones.

Hello! I'm Ashley. Professionally, I gained my Undergraduate degree in Social Work from Humboldt State, now known as Cal Poly Humboldt and my Master's degree in Social Work from California State University - Chico. I strive to practice from a strengths based perspective meaning that I believe that everyone has strengths that can be used to overcome the challenges of life. In my practice, I work collaboratively with people using various therapy modalities such as Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy to assist the person in accomplishing their goals. My goal is to create a non-judgemental environment where people can share their stories and work to craft new narratives about themselves and their lives.
Personally, I enjoy traveling and hope to visit a new place every year. When I am not dreaming of traveling, I love to watch anime with my cat or ride horses. When I feel the need to rest, I visit a beach to take a nap. Yep, you read that correctly, I go to the beach to nap... I don't even put my toes in the water.

Hello and happy day, star-shine! You lead and I will follow. Therapy is not a place for me to tell you what to do to improve your mental well-being. Therapy is a space for you to find yourself and learn new skills to manage life experiences. Mistakes are made to be learned. We fall before we rise. Be nice to yourself as you are to others.
I practice a holistic person-centered approach with the use of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and MI (Motivational Interview) to guide my clients. I am trauma-informed and utilize other modalities as well. Sometimes, we just need someone to listen to us and we will be able to figure things out for ourselves.

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies and Psychology from UCLA, and a dual Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Counseling (MFT & PCC track) from Pepperdine University. Counseling is a collaborative process that allows us to reflect on past experiences in order to move forward with greater understanding and purpose. While we cannot control how others perceive us, we can choose how we respond to situations and challenges. Our past shapes us, but how we view and respond to it is what ultimately defines our future.
My journey to becoming a therapist has been unique and shaped by resilience. I was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States at the age of 11, without my parents. Motivated to succeed academically and personally, I pursued various career paths before returning to school to follow my true calling—helping individuals overcome life’s challenges through counseling.
As a therapist, I prioritize building strong, trusting relationships with my clients. I believe that consistency, commitment, and celebrating personal accomplishments are key elements of growth and healing. It is a privilege to walk alongside clients in their journey, supporting them as they navigate difficulties and work toward meaningful change.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centered theory, emphasizing empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. However, I also integrate evidence-based techniques and modalities tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. Whether you are seeking to process the past, strengthen coping skills, or create a new path forward, I am committed to providing a supportive and collaborative environment where growth can occur.
If you are ready to make positive changes in your life, I would be honored to work with you.

Therapy, to me, is the process of joining. It is my ethos that I, as a therapist, am a human who sits with another human to see and hear them for who they really are: no judgment, no bias, just joining.
I join those living in the aftermath of trauma, believing that the seeds of healing and selfhood remain even in the deepest fractures. Trauma can shake our sense of safety, identity, and belonging, but it does not erase our wholeness. My role as a clinician is to create a space where those wounds can be acknowledged without shame, joining clients in moving through and honoring their journey to resilience and restoration.
When working with folks of any age, I like to utilize the “language of play” to access and honor their unique competencies. In my modernized usage, that means integrating gaming in all its forms into the therapy process. By weaving in elements of geek and gaming culture, I seek to understand clients through the lens of their personal passions. I want to know what your favorite game, anime, or comic says about your hopes, strengths, and the stories you carry within you.
As a Black and proudly plus-sized womxn, my therapy is weight-inclusive and body-glorifying. All bodies, existences, and spirits are welcome to explore their selfhood without judgment or shame. My therapy is LGBTQ+ affirming, sex-positive, and culturally humble.
It is my goal to join my clients on their journey towards wholeness. I believe that within everyone exists the strength, ability, and aptitude to attain (or maintain) their preferred future.
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

I have been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 2009. I am excited to be returning to providing direct therapy services after using my clinical skills in other settings, such as social work and mediation. The majority of my experience has been working with children and families who have experienced trauma and children and families who are dealing with major life transitions such as divorce or separation and navigating co-parenting.
I believe that more than any one theory or approach, the most important part of therapy is building a relationship of trust where one can be truly heard. I strive to be accepting and non-judgemental in my work, acknowledging the uniqueness of each person and of their lived experiences.

"You can't bring an umbrella to a brainstorm.” Hello, my name is Jeremy Evanston and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with an emphasis in Professional Clinical Counseling. It is my belief that connection heals, however some of us can find connecting challenging. I consider myself an Emotional Focused Therapist integrating Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy into our process. This helps people better connect with themselves so that they can better connect with those around them. Some things you will never hear me say are “regulate your emotions” or “you need to learn to cope better.” The goals in our time together are collaborative in nature with a Humanistic approach. I see you as the expert in your life and I am here primarily to help you gain more expertise in your own lived experience.
During my time as a mental health provider I have worked with a wide range of difficulties and diverse populations making me very comfortable with whatever you may bring into session. I have worked for many years in the treatment of addiction, trauma, personal growth, career development, interpersonal relationships, and more recently with couples. The Gottman Method is a highly evidence-based modality in the treatment of couples and is an effective way to help develop communication, conflict management, friendship, and a shared vision. Over my years as a clinician I have also become well equipped in the treatment of addiction and am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Outside of therapeutic practice I am currently a Ph.D. student which brings an added component to my dynamic in that I always do my very best to stay up to date on contemporary research and methodologies that may be useful in our time together. This means I am very open to the Existential exploration and any issue. I very much look forward to meeting you!

I have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a bachelors in Social Work. I work through a trauma informed lens and strive to create a safe and uplifting environment. I believe that life is a journey of deserts and mountains, where sometimes life seems desolate and other times it may feel lush and full of life. Life can be difficult to navigate when you feel alone.
I have worked at a domestic violence nonprofit, which provided me with a certificate in Domestic Violence Training and Batterer’s Intervention. I believe that each individual is unique and benefits from their own unique intervention that works for who they are. I do operate from a Person Centered, Narrative, DBT, and Attachment based approach. I will pull from other approaches as necessary, as is appropriate for each client.
Therapy has helped my own life through its ups and downs, traumas, and life changes. I welcome all ages and stages of clients. I look forward to working with you on your journey towards healing and change.
I was raised in the Central Valley of California. I enjoy spending time with my family of 6, reading, cooking, or watching a mindless show.
